Oct. 1987

Purchase of the Hamburg refinery

with capacity 80,000 bbl/day from ESSO including 50% interest in NDO pipeline and a share in NWO deep water terminal at Wilhelmshaven.

Nov. 1987

New Dock 6 installed

at the refinery, capable of handling 70,000 ton tankers.

Dec 22, 1987

First crude oil cargo

on the NEDI 1 from Libya arrived and unloaded at Dock 6.

Jan. 4, 1988

Crude unit reactivation completed;

refinery started.

Apr 4, 1988

Catcracker reactivation completed;

catcracker started.

July 1988

First bank consortium working capital loan obtained.

Bank consortium headed by Oddo BHF Bank, which remains today Holborn European Marketing Company Ltd.’s primary lender.

1990

Construction of Vapour Recovery unit

and crack LPG recovery.

1994

Bottom loading racks implemented

into the truck loading station.

1997

Crude unit revamp capacity

increase to 105kbbl/day

1997

Start of the nationwide expansion

of the HEM service station network by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH

1999

Aromatics limitation in gasoline

and commissioning of Isomerisation Unit.

1999

Deutsche Tamoil GmbH

becomes part of the Holborn Group

2001-2003

Clean fuels Project

to produce sulphur free fuels

2002

Acquisition of Tamoil Beheer B.V

2005

Introduction of biofuels.

Blending of bio components into motor fuels; ethanol to gasoline and FAME to diesel.

2006

Gasoil hydrotreater revamped

to produce low sulphur heating oil.

2007

Acquisition of the Dannenberg service station network

by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH

2008

Partial acquisition of the GO service station network

by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH

2009

Relaunch of the HEM brand

by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH - first prototype in Elmshorn

2013

CO2 emission trade assessment

shows Holborn among Europe’s 10 per cent most energy efficient refineries

2017

Sale of Tamoil Beheer B.V

Holborn European Marketing Company Limited was incorporated in Cyprus on 7 November 1987 and is based and operates from its freehold offices in Larnaca. Its principal activities revolve around the purchasing of crude oil and feedstocks, the selling of the refined products and the trading in oil products.
